The Cliff: takeoff maintenance

The cliff takeoff is a hard-wearing feature. However, after certain dry/wet/dry cycles the surface can become destabilised (“ fluffy”). If you observe tire tracks depressing, it’s time for maintenance (see image below).
Maintenance is straightforward: plate compaction when there is adequate moisture. The would require an overnight soak, or more prolonged precipitation.
The surface should be dry enough to avoid sticking; the sub-surface moist enough that there is compaction without dust generation.
